Water Filtration Plant
Our beloved Prophet peace be upon him said
“The best charity is giving water to drink.”
Unsafe water is the single biggest obstacle to the health of communities in the developing world. When people are denied access to clean water their hygiene and health suffer. Poor hygiene means children get sick and miss school. Small children are especially vulnerable to cholera and diarrheal illnesses, and unsafe water compromises their immune systems making it difficult for them to fight illnesses.
With your help, we can bring clean water to rural communities in Azad Kashmir, giving them safe water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning. Water for their crops and animals and the chance to break out of the poverty cycle.
Each Water Filtration Plant costs £5,250.
Water extracted through hand pumps is often contaminated. It carries a lot of bacteria and is not always safe to drink, putting lives at risk.
Compared to hand pumps, the construction of a Water Filtration Plant involves:
- Digging a bore up to 150ft deep to access cleaner water
- A 10ft x 10ft room on the surface which contains the actual filtration tanks that filters and cleans the water making it safe to drink
- Multiple taps on the outside so multiple people can access water at the same time
Once construction work is complete, the ownership of the Water Filtration Plants will be given to the local Mosques in the areas who will then be responsible for the maintenance and electricity bills of the Plant.
